Try to think of one or two sentences that summarises how a cognitive assessment can help and get in touch to get the ball rolling.

The referral question will determine what tools we will need to gather the right information to address the question. After our initial discussion (if an assessment with New South IQ is appropriate) I will gather as much background information as possible from you and any other educational or professional bodies supporting you/your child (including recent reports from school, Doctors, Psychologists, Speech Pathologists etc)
Introductory discussion to understand your need for an assessment
Background information is gathered

Results collated, scored and interpreted
All information gathered from all sources is integrated into a report which you will keep

Some common reasons for assessment may include:

Seeking additional funding support through the NSW Deptartment of Education
Assessing eligibility for NDIS funding
Assessing for giftedness
Enhancing understanding of a child's learning style
Understanding if a child's experience of school is impacted by their cognitive abilities
Wherever a quiet space can be found.

Strict client confidentiality will apply when you engage with New South IQ. In order to gather further background information about the individual being assessed I will generally contact other parties but will only do this if I have your verbal and written consent. If you are happy for me to do so I can make contact with other professional bodies who are also supporting the individual being assessed, this could be through a phone call, email or letter

Generally the time it takes to gather all background information from each party, conduct adaptive and cognitive assessments, interpret results and write a report will be between 2-4 weeks from initial consultation
There will be at least 1 face to face meeting.
This will depend on how much data is needed to adequately respond to the referral question. Multiple sessions may be required to complete multiple assessments, for example, a WISC-V and WIAT-III may be administered over two sessions

NSW Department of Education and independent or private schools can offer assessment services free of charge if they have a School Psychologist or School Counsellor on staff. I definitely recommend you contact your child's school to find out if they can provide a cognitive assessment for no cost. Do keep in mind that the wait list for a cognitive assessment may extend beyond 6 months. If you would prefer to not delay your child's cognitive assessment then please do get in touch
They are the same thing.
